The Department of Marketing prepares experts in marketing, trade and business. It offers three modern, trendy, attractive, practical and global study programs. Graduates of the bachelor´s study program Business in Trade will learn to create viable business models. They will be ready to become entrepreneurs, employers or employees - specialists in marketing and trade. Graduates of the master´s study program Marketing and Trade Management will acquire managerial and consulting skills which are important for managers in today's online and offline world. This study program can be studied in Slovak or English. PhD. study program Marketing and Trade Management enables its graduates to expand their managerial skills with research skills. They will use them in various attractive areas, such as modern cutting-edge areas of research and practice, such as neuromarketing using intelligent systems or management and marketing consulting, which is referred to as the profession of the future. Graduates of each of these study programs can find an attractive job in Slovakia or abroad. They can understand a Slovak consumer and/or foreign competitor.

The Department of Marketing very closely monitors all trends from the world of marketing, trade and business, which it verifies by solving domestic and international research tasks and projects. It works very closely with renowned experts in the field of consumer, brand, innovation, quality, human resources and intelligent systems in marketing, trade and business. The department also deals with topics of circular economics, electromobility or consumer neuroscience and nanoneuroscience. The rich publication activities carried out by the Department of Marketing contribute to the dissemination of this knowledge in the professional and scientific public in Slovakia and abroad.

The Department of International Trade focuses on the fields of economics of foreign trade, international trade and business activities in an international environment. We create conditions for the development of internationalization of business activities of Slovak companies - large, small and medium-sized, family businesses, and start-ups. We prepare future experts in the field of international trade and international business, economic and trade diplomacy, management of companies in foreign markets.

The department provides study programs as follow:

  • International Business - bachelor´s study program;
  • International Trade Management - master´s study program;
  • International Business Management - PhD. study program.

 

Most members of the department use their rich experience from foreign trade practice and working abroad (Western Europe, USA, China, Canada, Russia, etc.) in their teaching and research activities. Students have the opportunity to participate in lectures and workshops of invited foreign and Slovak experts of business practice and to participate in solving real projects and compiling final theses.

Relating to professional and language skills (we offer many courses in foreign languages) of our graduates, they hold professional positions and important managerial positions in companies in the field of international trade and business, world economy, economic and trade diplomacy, but also financial, logistics and other areas. The quality of our study programs is proven by the employment of many successful graduates.

The research of the department focuses on export competitiveness, international economic integration, foreign trade policy, foreign direct investment, international energy market, international payments and financial operations, international marketing and territorial studies (China, Russia, etc.). A wide range of publications includes scientific articles in leading international journals, international monographs, textbooks, as well as nationally recognized manuals for the internationalization of small and medium-sized companies (exporter's manual). The outputs of international projects are implemented in teaching activities. Foreign members of project teams are involved in the pedagogical process (in English). Special emphasis is placed on business practice projects and the implementation of research results in the decision-making of the management of companies and relevant institutions.

In recent years, our students have worked at Slovak embassies in Germany, Greece, the Russian Federation, France, and Canada. The Department of International Trade actively cooperates and regularly invites experts to lectures and cooperates in projects with partners:

The Department of Tourism responds flexibly to the requirements of business practice and cooperate closely with wide range of experts and representatives of  business entities.

The department provides a bachelor's study program Business in Tourism and Services which is focused on graduates prepared for the position of a qualified expert in the field of tourism and related services in the international environment, as well as for independent business in tourism services. The department also provides master´s study program Tourism Management that prepares graduates for their career in tourism management at the international, national, regional and corporate level. Graduates of these study programs are qualified experts employable in middle and top management of various areas of tourism.

The Department of Tourism stays in touch with graduates even after their studies. Through their involvement in educational activities as experts of business practice, they share their knowledge and build and expand cooperation with students.

Our students can participate in various internships at home or abroad and make valuable contacts with experts from practice, which profiles a graduate who will be successful in the labor market as an employee or entrepreneur in the field of tourism. With us, everyone will be ready for the world of business, management and marketing in the tourism services sector; will learn to think strategically; will gain courage and knowledge for his/her future career in Slovakia and/or abroad.

Members of the department participate in national and international projects, solve tasks and projects for the state administration, self-government, and the business sphere.

We actively cooperate with economic practice - with tourism companies (hotels, travel agencies and others), with state administration, self-government, professional organizations and regional associations.

The Department of Business Law provides legal courses for bachelor's and master´s study programs of several faculties of the University of Economics in Bratislava. These are compulsory, compulsory elective and elective courses, such as commercial and economic law, business law, international trade law, tourism law, marketing law, financial law, labor law, intellectual property law or consumer law. Our primary goal is to pass on knowledge and experience about selected legal branches and how to apply individual legal regulations in practice. The graduate will be able not only to read legal texts with understanding, but also to apply them in practice within their professional or consumer life.

Members of the Department of Business Law are also actively involved in scientific research and publishing activities. Several members of the department provide legal services in practice, where they work as lawyers, law clerks, administrators or consultants. Department's development is constantly adapting to the requirements of the labor market and trends related to globalization and internationalization of the economy which are also reflected in the legal regulation of economic relations.
