The monograph explores the European Union’s trade relations with two key regions - preferential group of the African, Caribbean, and Pacific (ACP) countries and the Indo-Pacific region. It provides a comprehensive analysis of the development of the EU’s relations with these regions, examining not only mutual trade relations and institutional frameworks but also the challenges they face.

The analysis of the ACP region concludes that the introduction of the Economic Partnership Agreements (EPAs) has not generally resulted in a significant increase in ACP exports to the EU, nor has it contributed to GDP per capita growth in ACP countries.

The chapter focused on the Indo-Pacific region and its role within the EU’s broader trade policy directly builds upon the discussion of the ACP region, as the two overlap through the Indian and Pacific island states and certain African countries that are geographically considered part of the Indo-Pacific concept, a relatively new but stable geopolitical and geo-economic framework.

The monograph traces the evolution of the EU’s relations with these regions through key policy documents and trade strategies, analyses their mutual trade relations, and provides an overview of the EU’s contractual instruments with individual countries in both regions.
