The primary aim of this monograph is to provide an analysis of consumer behaviour regarding organic food products among the inhabitants of the Visegrad Group (V4) countries. The research was conducted as part of a project funded by the International Visegrad Fund, carried out from December 2023 to February 2024, and involved 600 consumers from each V4 country.

The following research institutions participated in the study: the University of Life Sciences in Lublin, the Poznań University of Life Sciences, the College of Polytechnics Jihlava, the Czech University of Life Sciences Prague, the University of Economics in Bratislava, and the Research Institute of Organic Agriculture.

The V4 countries were selected for this study because, within the broader European organic food market, the Central and Eastern European countries (CEECs) have traditionally represented a niche market. Since their accession to the European Union in 2004, the development of this market has been significantly influenced by EU regulations.

The study utilized both primary and secondary data sources to assess the state of organic agriculture and the organic food market, as well as consumer behaviour in this sector within the V4 countries. Based on the recorded results, the authors presented the development of organic agriculture in each of the V4 countries. An in-depth analysis was also conducted on consumer behaviour in the organic food market, which included the profiling of eco-consumers within the V4 countries as part of the study’s objectives.
